The Magen David Synagogue for the Immigrants from Babylon

The story

The Magen David synagogue stands on Mordechai Eliash Street in Neighborhood Gimel, eighty-five meters from the Garden of the Immigrants from Babylon — the garden that bears the name of the operation in which the Jews of Iraq immigrated. A garden and a community of that same immigration, on the two sides of the same street. About the community there are two official records, and both of them say who prays here. In the associations registry of the Ministry of Justice there is registered on 22 December 2019 the association “Magen David Synagogue for the Immigrants from Babylon, Neighborhood Gimel, Beersheba”, and it is active. In the register of synagogues of the Religious Council of Beersheba there appears at this place the community “Magen David”, with the name of the gabbai and with the times of prayer. This is not the first synagogue of those who came from Iraq in the city: their central synagogue, known as the Pyramid synagogue, stands in Neighborhood Alef, a kilometer and one hundred and fifty meters from here.
