The Yeruham Municipal Library

The story

The municipal library of Yeruham stands in the center of the locality. On its façade and inside the building are set art walls of ceramic that the artist Moshe Saidi created in 1988. Walls from the same series are set also into the façade of the community center and into the façade of the sports hall, and most of them deal with the growth and the development of the locality and with the ingathering of the exiles. There was a library in Yeruham already in the nineteen-fifties: it was set up, together with an ice plant, after the director of the transit camp Shlomo Tamir wrote to the institutions in 1953 that Tel Yeruham must either be built or liquidated.
