Beersheba Culture Hall

The story

The Beersheba Culture Hall is a public building on Yitzhak Rager Boulevard, in the Civic Center of the city, close to the city hall. It does not belong to the municipality but to the General Federation of Labour, which built it at the end of the 1980s in order to host plays and performances. In the past some of the plays of the Beersheba Theatre were staged in it, as in those years it did not yet have a home of its own — the Performing Arts Center was completed only in 2008. The building has two halls: the central hall, which holds up to 592 seats, and “Stage 2”, newer and much smaller, which holds about one hundred and sixty seats, or about one hundred when it is arranged as a “café theatre”, with tables instead of rows. The building was renovated in 2003. Beside the performance halls a restaurant operated in the hall: from the 1990s and for many years the Italian restaurant “Rigoletto”, and after it the Chinese restaurant “Jade Palace”.
