The Colored Sands

The story

Inside Makhtesh Yeruham layers of sandstone in different colors are exposed, which crumbles at a touch and reveals a great variety of colors. This area, called the Colored Sands, is one of the stopping points in the makhtesh. Nearby there is in the makhtesh an outcrop rich in fossils, among them remains of corals, ammonites, sea lilies and sea urchins; the outcrop is protected as a nature site.
