Arad Community Center

The story

The community center of Arad stands in the center of the city, and in the same compound are also the municipal library and the Arad Museum. The library moved to it in 1984, after it had wandered among different buildings since it was established, about a month after the arrival of the first garin in the city. The compound is one of the places in which the cultural life of Arad has been concentrated over the years. In the 1960s and 1970s a culture-loving community developed in the city: at the beginning of the 1980s about thirteen thousand people lived here, and more than one thousand five hundred subscriptions were bought to the annual theater series of “Tarbut LaAm”, which brought to the city six to eight performances a year. Next to the community center stands also the Samuel Rubin Culture Center.
