The story

In the Nitzana basin, from Tel Nitzana toward the Israel–Egypt border, extends the environmental work of Dani Karavan “Path of Peace”. It is built of one hundred stone columns, the height of each of them three meters and sixty centimeters and its diameter sixty centimeters, and they stand in a row along about three kilometers. On each column the word “peace” is engraved in a different language — eighty-eight languages in all, and most of them ancient languages of the peoples who passed here on the ancient road that crosses the Nitzana basin. The work was created between the years 1996 and 2000. Dani Karavan (1930–2021) was a sculptor, a stage designer and a painter, and a laureate of the Israel Prize for sculpture for the year 5737. The Negev Brigade Monument in Beersheba is a work of his as well, and thirty-three years separate the two.
