Yeruham Dam

The story

The dam that stops the floodwaters of Nahal Revivim and creates Lake Yeruham. It was built by the Tahal company, which employed a subcontractor; the construction began in the summer of 1952 and lasted a little more than a year. It was planned to be built in several stages: the first created a reservoir with a volume of about a million cubic meters, and the following stages, which were supposed to enlarge it several times over, remained on paper. From the dam a pipe was laid that carried the water to the fields of the kibbutzim of Mashabei Sadeh and Revivim, downstream of Nahal Revivim.
