Ofek Neighborhood

The story

In January 2015 the establishment of a new neighborhood in Yeruham was approved for deposit, and its name is Ofek. According to the plan about six hundred and thirty apartments will rise in it, and a park with an area of about one hundred and thirty-five dunams will be built in it, beside which a promenade along Nahal Shualim. The neighborhood is part of what turned Yeruham from a locality that was demographically frozen into a locality that grows: in the course of 2015 the number of residents passed ten thousand, a growth of one thousand five hundred since the end of 2011, and in that same year five hundred plots were sold in the neighborhood. An initiative by the name "Ben Mamshich BaPeriferia", devised by the residents of Yeruham, was intended to help the young people of the city and young people in other peripheries to acquire housing at reduced prices.
