The Municipal Stadium of Dimona

The story

The municipal stadium of Dimona stands in the north of the city, close to Ben-Gurion Park, and it has one thousand one hundred and forty seats in a single stand. Beneath the stand are the dressing rooms, the referees' room and service rooms. It was built in 1970 and served the football club Hapoel Dimona until 2003. Around the grass pitch an old running track remains, which creates a distant viewing angle at the matches. The stand is made up of four blocks: two in the center with four hundred and fifty places each, and two at the sides with one hundred and twenty each. In 2016 the stadium underwent a renovation that included the removal of the fences at the front of the stand, the installation of seats and the renewal of the dressing rooms, and in the 2019/2020 season the lighting was upgraded and adapted to evening matches. In October 2020 a synthetic pitch for training and for youth matches was dedicated beside it, with a stand for about five hundred spectators, at a cost of about seventeen million shekels.
