Qasr a-Sir

The story

Qasr a-Sir is a Bedouin village at the foot of Mount Etzem, about two and a half kilometers west of Dimona, inside the concentration of the al-Hawashla Bedouin tribe. It is one of the unrecognized Bedouin localities that were recognized and included within the Abu Basma Regional Council; since its splitting in 2012 it belongs to the Neve Midbar Regional Council, and in it it is the easternmost locality. The name of the village comes from an ancient fortress — Metzad Shorer — whose remains are found within its bounds. In 2019 the “Embroidery Promenade” was laid in the village, on the banks of Nahal Aroer, which passes through its bounds. Its length is eight hundred meters, and it was designed in the inspiration of forms of traditional Bedouin embroidery, which appear in the pergolas, in the signage and in further components along it.
