Kfar Hanokdim

The story

Kfar Hanokdim stands in the Valley of the Zealots, between Arad and Masada, and serves as a desert resort and hospitality site. It was established in 1991 by Yehoram Roded, out of an intention to create a desert oasis that combines hospitality in the spirit of the desert with care for the environment. The building was done with local materials: limestone, palm trees, camel wool and tents made of braids of goat hair. The village is designed as a traditional Bedouin village, and in it there are air-conditioned encampments, guest rooms of natural materials, group lodging compounds, huts and buses that were converted into rooms. Over the years the place grew from a small hospitality khan into a compound that hosts tens of thousands of visitors every year, and works with travel agencies and with official delegations. Guided tours, camel and donkey riding, and workshops on subjects of sustainability and acquaintance with the animal and plant life of the area take place in it, as well as festivals and conferences. The Israel National Trail passes close by.
