Kuseife

The story

Kuseife (Arabic: كسيفة) is a Bedouin locality in the east of the Negev, about ten kilometers west of Arad. It was established in 1982 within the plan for the establishment of seven permanent localities for the Bedouin population in the Negev, following the peace agreement with Egypt and the evacuation from Sinai. In 1996 a local council was declared, after the dissolution of the administrative framework that had preceded it. According to the estimate of the Central Bureau of Statistics for the middle of 2026, about 22,924 residents live in it, and the annual rate of growth is 4.4 percent; the density of the population in it is 1,701 souls per square kilometer. The sources of livelihood of the residents are mainly the plants of the area, the industrial zones around it and the industries of the Dead Sea Works.
