Freedom of Movement

The story

“Freedom of Movement” is a sculpture by Tanya Preminger, standing in the western part of the Sculpture Route at Hatzerim. Preminger, born on 12 November 1944, is an Israeli sculptor and artist who works in different media — environmental sculpture, land art, ephemeral art, sculpture in stone, performance and installation and photography. Most of the materials she works in are natural: her early sculptures were made of clay, of wood and of stone, and afterwards she began to use earth, grass, water and snow. Her works combine classical methods with innovation, and her earth sculptures touch on archaic sculpture, on pop art and on geometric minimalism. She won the creation encouragement prize of the Ministry of Culture for the year 2016 and the Arik Einstein Prize for a veteran artist for the year 2022. The sculpture is one of thirty-nine that have been placed along the route since the year 2000.
