Pictures

The story

“Pictures” is a sculpture by David Gavrieli, standing at the northern end of the Sculpture Route at Hatzerim. Gavrieli, born in 1968, is an Israeli sculptor whose works are made of steel. The sculpture is one of thirty-nine standing along the route and on the hills around it, a project that began in the year 2000 on the initiative of the artist and curator Marga Fishtein and her husband Israel, who invited Israeli artists to place in the field works that relate to the environment and to the space, and the process of curating has continued since. The route goes round Kibbutz Hatzerim from the south and is open to pedestrians, to bicycles and to vehicles; this sculpture stands on its northern margin, about a kilometer and a hundred meters from the kibbutz, and it is the farthest from the rest of the sculptures of the route that bear a name — about nine hundred meters from the sculpture nearest to it.
