Tzipdag

The story

“Tzipdag” is a sculpture by Dina Merhav, standing at the eastern end of the Sculpture Route at Hatzerim, the nearest of them all to Beersheba. Dina Merhav (9 March 1936 – 19 October 2022) was an Israeli artist who specialized in the placing of outdoor sculptures of iron, and a laureate of the Hermann Struck Prize for the year 1998. On the Sculpture Route stands a second work of hers, “House of the Angels”. The whole route numbers thirty-nine sculptures, whose placing began in the year 2000 on the initiative of the artist and curator Marga Fishtein and her husband Israel; they invited Israeli artists to place at the sides of the route and on the hills around it works that relate to the environment and to the space, and the process of curating has continued since and has not stopped.
